Boating Rules
Regulations: Vessels are prohibited from approaching within 300 feet on upstream side or 1,500 feet on downstream side of Shepaug Dam. Vessels are prohibited from approaching within 300 feet downstream of the Bleachery Dam. 45 mph limit daytime, 25 mph from ½ hour after sunset to ½ hour before sunrise.

Eagle Watch
Since 1985, the public has been invited to visit its bald eagle observation area, located near the Shepaug hydroelectric station on the Housatonic River in Southbury, Conn. The observation area is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays through mid-March. Admission is free but reservations are required. They can be made by calling 1-800-368-8954 Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning in early December. Learn More
Lake Patrol
The Lake Patrol enforces Connecticut's boating laws to assure that boating and water sports activities are conducted safely. The Patrol assists boarters with mechanical problems, responds to emergencies, provides watercraft for scienticic projects, and maintains law and order on the lake. The Patrol maintains 3 on-water vehicles.
