Lake Herbicide Treatment - July 2nd, 2018

In accordance with Connecticut D.E.E.P. Pesticide Division notification requirements, selected areas of Lake Lillinonah in Brookfield will be chemically treated with Reward (diquat) herbicide for control of non-native Eurasian watermilfoil and curly-leaf pondweed.   The treatment is scheduled for Monday, July 2nd.  Use of the lake water within and for a distance of 500-feet beyond the treatment areas will be restricted for swimming on the day of treatment, livestock watering for 1 day following treatment or until July 3rd, drinking or domestic purposes for 3-days or until July 6th and irrigation for 5-days following treatment or until July 8th.  The Connecticut D.E.E.P. and surrounding town boat ramps will remain open.  Prior to treatment, the lake shoreline around the treatment areas will be posted with signs showing the extent of the treatment areas and applicable water use restrictions in accordance with Connecticut D.E.E.P. requirements.
